Wedding Planning - Current Trends In Wedding Accessories

June 21st, 2008
Nily Glaser asked:

ATTIRE

Wedding attire choices for WOMEN have become less traditional and more of personal preference. According to bridal salon owners, the trend for brides married in 2006, and those planning a wedding in 2007, calls for sleek and relatively simple gown or dress style. Favored are both plain yet elegant gowns or dresses and gowns or dresses adorned with crystal, pearls and lace.

The major contributors to pulling away from the fairy tale gown or dress styles, in favor of elegant simplicity as being the preferred choice for brides, can be contributed to:

Today’s working, price conscious brides who want to adhere to a budget, do not want to sacrifice style or beauty, but want a lot of value for their money.

The growing popularity of destination weddings.
Brides appreciate that these elegant yet simple styles can safely be transported and look fresh and clean upon arrival at the wedding destinations.

The trend for MEN has also become more casual, offering a choice of a dark suit, or dark pants with a white dinner jacket instead of a tuxedo.

THEME WEDDINGS allow even more freedom of choice. For example:

Western attire is quite common in western theme weddings.

Victorian attire in Victorian theme weddings.

Reneasance garb in Reneasance theme weddings.

Casual wear and sandal for Beach weddings, and so on.

JEWELRY

Today’s brides preferred to keep their and their bridesmaids jewelry to a minimum, choosing Swarovski crystal, classic pearls clusters and pearl strands necklaces, with matching earrings. Replicas of celebrity tiaras, as well as tiaras studded with crystal and - or pearls are most popular.

THEME WEDDINGS

Currently, more and more couples are planning theme weddings that express their interests and uniqueness.

Many combine their heritage, religion and - or traditions into their wedding theme, or use them as the central point of both ceremony and reception.

Others choose their theme to coincide with their wedding location.

Yet others who plan a family wedding concentrate on having their children represented.

ACCESSORIES FOR THEME WEDDINGS

Whether dictated by the couple’s interests, background or location, the bride and groom like to have their photo album, guest book, unity candles, pen set, flower basket, ring pillow, bridal purse - money bag, garter, cake top, centerpieces and decorations present their theme.

In fact, the trend is to have as many accessories actually match as a set or a collection, rather than just an assortment of complementing items.

WHERE TO BUY WEDDING ACCESSORIES and CHOICES.

There are many options to purchasing wedding needs, from attire to accessories. The most obvious and traditional being bridal salons.

However, with the enormous growth of the Internet and the high security of shopping carts, the trend is to check and comparison-shop online first.

Shopping for weddings on the Internet, can be done from the comfort of one’s home or office, saving gasoline, precious time and money.

The Internet also introduces items available only on-line.
Some items are so unique they can be purchased only on a specific web site.

It is interesting to mention that A-wedding Day has experienced a surge in gift givers buying wedding items, including complete accessory collections, to be shipped with a gift card to a bride.

Wedding Planning Organizers-a Memorable Day

June 16th, 2008
Wycliffe Williams asked:

Most wedding planning organizers would tell that as the wedding date draws near, the tight organizing begins to unravel. No one can quite explain it, but it happens. I’m sure that stress has a lot to do with it, among other things.

The Master Wedding Planning Guide is loaded with step-by-step guidance through the really challenging times. It is jam packed with practical, down-to-earth wedding information that will make your wedding day really special.

You are a beautiful bride and you should carry or wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

It’s a time-honored wedding tradition that will bring the bride good luck. This book will give you some fantastic ideas concerning this tradition.

Writing your own wedding vows is an excellent way to express exactly how each of you feels about the other. Most wedding vows commonly used are very lovely but they don’t always get the job done for that special couple.

Many couples choose to write their own vows, and they should be encouraged to do so. This book gives special ideas to make those vows unforgettable.

Young children add a special innocent touch to a wedding. They can also liven up the wedding with unexpected antics.
Always consider the age, maturity and predictability of a child before including them in the wedding party. This book gives you great ideas on the ways that children can participate.

The best man traditionally offers the first toast at a wedding reception. His toast shows his respect toward his friendship with the Bride and especially the Groom.

The first toast also reveals intimate and often embarrassing details of the couple’s courtship. The book gives wonderful suggestions for the best man. It also gives him ideas for the perfect wedding gift.

How about the area of cost? This book is crammed with cost saving ideas you wouldn’t have thought off. You will be thoroughly satisfied with the numerous suggestions made.

Remember, this really is an experience that should be savored. Plan an organizing party night. Have all the participants over.
Parents, Grandparents and all. Download this book and put together a detailed powerpoint plan of what everyone is expected to do to make this a special day for all.

94% of over 11,000 couples strongly agree that this book has helped make their special wedding day fun, exciting and memorable.

This book leaves no stone unturned. What are the questions that you must ask the photographer, caterer, band, videographer, florist and the many other people associated with your wedding?

Have you thought about a timeline? What about the order of events on the day? Who is supposed to do what? Has that been ticked or marked as done? Sounds like a lot to do! This book will take the stress out of your planning and make it an enjoyable experience

Daniel

Who knows where I can get some funding for my cousins wedding planning company?

June 14th, 2008
Cupid_Imma_Beat_that_AZZ asked:

I am a part of a 3 person team. We are all Black females ranging from 25-35 years old. We are trying to start a company called “The Wedding Chapel”. We have incorporated as an LLC.

Here’s our concept:
“The Wedding Chapel” will be a place where a couple can have an elegant wedding without breaking the bank. We will offer the complete wedding. Meaning that everything needed to get married will be provided by “The Wedding Chapel” all the couple has to do is find their outfits and show up. Somewhat like a chapel in Vegas, but with much more class.

There are so many different people involved in making a wedding happen. i.e. photographer, cake decorator, wedding planner, caterer, limousine company, florist and so on. If one of those people does not do as they should the wedding could be a disaster. In addition to that there is a tremendous amount of planning and coordinating involved. At “The Wedding Chapel” everything is controlled by us. There is no ball to drop.

Many times prices are so inflated that the couple who is so excited about their big day, has to scale back. There is no good reason for the drastically inflated prices. So we are providing and answer to that.

Our Motto is: “Your wedding doesn’t have to be limited by what’s in your wallet.”

Our Mission Statement is:
To completely provide an elegant wedding ceremony and wedding reception experience at an affordable price.

Our Goal is to relieve the pressures of wedding planning and to provide and answer to financial limitations.

The Challenge is:
To always go above and beyond the customers expectations. To always give quality service regardless of the client or compensation.

Anna

Keep a Tight Rein Over your Wedding Plans

June 4th, 2008
Andrew Regan asked:

As many Hollywood movies have documented - from Father of the Bride to Meet the Fokkers - planning a wedding can be a stressful, but rewarding experience. Wedding planning involves thorough organisation, accurate planning, a head for punctuality and the memory of an elephant - all four of which are hard to come by in one person!

But regardless of whether you can afford to hire your own wedding planner or instead have to rely on yourself and your family to get your wedding plans running like clockwork, it’s important to maintain a tight rein over your wedding preparations to ensure things go the way you want them to!

For starters, compile a guest list: it’s a good idea to determine your out-of-town guest list first, and then draw up an entire guest list. You’ll also need to decide key dates, such as your engagement party, your bachelor/bachelorette bash, your rehearsal dinner and, of course, your actual wedding day!

It’s also crucial to calculate how much space you’ll need before you decide on where to book the location for your wedding. You might have had your heart set on the lavish ballroom at the local hotel - but if the space available at the venue is simply too big (or small), it won’t be practical to hold your wedding there. Once you’ve chosen your ceremony location, make sure you don’t just book it for the day of your wedding but also book for your rehearsal as well! Moreover, choose a florist and invite them to look over the wedding location with you, so your flower arrangements can be tailored specifically to harmonise with your ceremony as much as possible.

If you’re planning your wedding yourself, it’s a good idea to hand over some control of the wedding planning duties to a member of your family - such as a parent or a sibling - as the countdown to your wedding day gets shorter and shorter. This way, you’ll have time to do some essential bridal preparations, including wedding gown fittings, selection of bridesmaid’s dresses and the arrangements for hair and make-up.

And while it’s easy to get caught up in the more romantic bits of wedding planning, like choosing what music to have and buying wedding rings, it’s also important to keep in mind certain legal necessities, such as applying for a marriage licence and looking into changing your name (if applicable).

If you choose to have your wedding in a hotel, you’re sure to find many hotel wedding packages to suit you. This way, you’ll be able to house your out-of-town guests in the same hotel as the wedding ceremony and take advantage of the expert wedding planning advice that experienced hotel experts can give.

Andrew Regan is an online, freelance journalist.

How to Avoid a Wedding Planning Disaster

June 3rd, 2008
Niles asked:

So, you’re getting married. Marriage can be a great and wonderful experience, but planning for a wedding is always hectic. Flowers, bridesmaids, music, locations. You’re no doubt going to need help figuring things out and getting things ready. Read on for several tips on how to avoid wedding planning disasters.

Letting others help. Let your friends and family help, but don’t give them too much power or things will start to get ugly. One of the biggest problems is letting everyone else take full control. Arguments will not only arise between you and them, but they’ll also arise amongst themselves. Your mom is going to never agree with your best friend’s taste in invitation colors and your best friend is never going to agree with your cousin about choices for decorations.

Letting others NOT help. More problems will arise if you don’t let your friends and family have enough control, too. Make sure you let others help and make sure you don’t become obsessive over every little detail. You’ll need to give in to certain decisions and stand firm on others. Just be tactful and patient and everything should turn out fine.

Focus on the budget. The average wedding costs roughly $20 thousand nowadays. One of the first things you should do is divide up the most important parts and figure out how much you’re willing to spend on each. That way, when Aunt Martha wants extra lavender ribbons, you can tell her that it’s not in the budget. Remember that a wedding only lasts for a day, but marriage is (hopefully) forever.

Take breaks and make sure to laugh. Having a sense of humor is very important in dealing with stress. It will also help to make all the planning seem fun. Take a night out to watch a movie or go to dinner with your fiancée. If you don’t take breaks, everyone will feel exhausted by the time the wedding comes around.

Focus on marriage, not the wedding. The wedding is an important thing for your friends and family, but marriage is more important. Remember, you’re going to start living with a new person (if you aren’t already) as well as go on a honeymoon. You’re going to want extra money after the big day.

Let the day be great no matter what. Don’t let a sudden thunderstorm cause you to frown. Something will undoubtedly go wrong at your wedding, but unless you’re able to look past the little things, you’ll always remember them. If you trip, forget about it. If the cake falls on the floor, try to laugh. Your wedding isn’t ruined, it just turned into a good story you’ll be able to share with your children someday.

The day will come and go no matter what happens. If you aren’t able to enjoy it, you’ll always looks back and have regrets. Learn to just be accepting and your wedding can turn out to be one of the happiest moments of your life.

I am trying to get my fiancee involved with our wedding, but everytime I bring it up he tells me that I am doing to much for the wedding. He keeps telling me that I don’t need to start planning now. I am also having to find hotel rooms for our families but he wont give me all the names of the people that are going to be there. So I don’t know how many rooms to book. I need some major help.
