What wedding tradition jumps over string tied to two chairs?

My grandma found a picture of a wedding party with the bride and groom about to jump over string tied about hip height to two chairs. I have googled and hunted to see what wedding tradition this is but can not figure it out? I know about the jumping over the broom, but haven’t ever seen this one. Thanks for any help to figuring this out!
